A self taught photographer, I was born
in Aarhus, Denmark where I spent my youth. I first became interested in
photography when the family 6x6 box camera was passed down to me by my
father.
I soon built my own darkroom and explored the mystery of
controlling the manipulation of light and shadow available in the photographic
process from exposing the negative to light, developing it through to finally
printing it. Throughout my teens and my twenties I have worked with 35mm, medium
and large format.
I relocated to England in my twenties and settled down
in the Thames Valley, Berkshire.
Having had a break from photography
for over 10 years, I have re-discovered my burning enthusiasm for this
medium and am now working almost entirely in the full frame digital format from
exposure to post processing in the digital darkroom.
My work is more or less exclusively
black and white and hugely influenced by my environment which throughout my life
has been encompassed by water. It is my hope that my love for the intimacy and
beauty inherent in the intrinsic landscape that immediately surrounds us, being
it urban or rural, is evident in the images shown here.
