3. Miners Carnival
The procession made a turn
All around the temple,
Where there were rich altars
All beautifully cared for.
The dances were notable,
The music came from heaven
And of the size of the multitude
It is impossible to say too much.
And once Our Lord was safely inside
Potosi remained transfixed.
The religious were spellbound
As together they had come
To happily celebrate
The Sacrament of Christ.
And with that the day was over
With the greatest splendor
That human eyes have seen
From the South to the wild North.

Account of the Grand Festival that the Governor Luis de Andrade y Sotomayor
Organized for the Renovation of the Holy Sacrament, 1663
