I've taken portraits as long as I've taken pictures. And
though for years I've combined images on my computer screen, I always seem
to return to the basic low-tech portrait. I guess it has something to do with what
happens between two people face to face.
The photographs to your left were taken on assignment in the 1980's. The
clients, to whom in retrospect I am very grateful, were: Marie Claire (France), Vogue (France), Vogue
(Germany), HG (USA) and Le Ministère de La Culture (France). All of
the portraits are in the permanent collection of the Bibliothèque
Nationale, France.
